"The Pastor & Scripture" Micro Course Released

By

Pierce Taylor Hibbs and Anna Sylvestre

BLOG

WTS's second tuition-free micro course, "The Pastor & Scripture," is now available. For pastors, knowing the priority of Scripture and how to mine the treasures from the text are of the highest value. The Bible is the life source and compass for all that a preacher does. That means pastors are called to know both its larger narrative and themes, as well as the details that give color and shape to a text.

Led by Old Testament Professor Jonny Gibson, this course shepherds students through the terrain of faithful biblical study. In the course of five lessons, Dr. Gibson shares how pastors are called to be rooted in, tethered to, and guided by the Word of God.

  • The Pastor and the Priority of Scripture
  • The Pastor and the Interpretation of Scripture
  • The Pastor and the Story of Scripture
  • The Pastor and His Books
  • The Pastor and His Life

Each lesson is accompanied by a quiz and a short reading assignment, making the lessons manageable and rewarding.

Course Producer Pierce Taylor Hibbs said, "Jonny Gibson's teaching about the centrality of Scripture for ministry is a breath of fresh air. It's not just his message that I loved; it's his method. He draws on biblical teaching to showcase the importance of the Bible! Pastors and leaders will find themselves refreshed and redirected as they continue pursuing the word of God and all its various applications. This course is deeply needed in a time when people, even leaders in the church, are tempted to go outside of Scripture for sources of authority. Jonny shows that we have all we need in the Good Book."
