CH (COL) Pete Sniffin (D.Min.) is President’s Professor of Pastoral Theology. Chaplain Sniffin’s academic interests include ministry leadership and expository preaching.

Chaplain Sniffin has extensive ministry experience having served as an active-duty U.S. Army Chaplain for 30 years. He is an ordained Teaching Elder in the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA). Chaplain Sniffin spiritually led soldiers across the United States and overseas to include service as the Chief of Religious Support Operations for all U.S. personnel in the Afghanistan theater of war. During his tenure as a chaplain, he also led multiple military chapel congregation in the U.S., overseas and in the combat theater. He served as the Director of the Armed Forces Chaplaincy Center and as the 41st Commandant of the U.S. Chaplain Center & School, leading that institution to its highest ever accreditation rating and designation as a U.S. Army “Institution of Excellence.” Chaplain Sniffin was inducted by the U.S. Army Chief of Chaplains as a Charter Member of the College of Military Preaching. In retirement from active duty, Chaplain Sniffin has served as Ligonier Ministries Senior Advisor for Chaplain Outreach, as Professor of Chaplaincy Studies at Birmingham Theological Seminary, and as an Assistant Professor of Leadership at Liberty University.
